Well what can I say about today?
First off, last night I could hardly sleep, as I was worried I would sleep in and miss my bus. Last I checked the time was just shy of 2am. This morning I woke about 5am and couldn't get back to sleep. I did get up on time. Then I left early for the bus to make sure I didn't miss the bus. The bus was ten minutes late, meaning I'd been waiting in the freezing cold around 7am for it. A friend from college who I hadn't heard from but had been thinking of caught the bus. I got his new phone number. Another friend from college saw me in the street before I started my placement. I was looking in the window of Gamestation at the PS3s, XBOX360s and Nintendo Wiis. She and I caught up a little before she headed on to college and I went to the British Heart Foundation furniture store on Union Street in Inverness, where I will be doing a thirteen week placement. I had to read through the health and safety booklet before starting, then Maria showed myself and another new person where the fire escapes were, etc. After that I polished the furniture, then helped with sorting out all the price labels in the store. Around half past one - quarter to two, the person from the SCVO came to fill in some paperwork with me for my placement and to reimburse my travel fare. So I went to get my bus ticket to check it. My wallet was open. But I didn't think anything of it at first. I just closed it and took it through to the office. It was only when I opened it a few minutes later that I realized my bus ticket, which cost me £33, and £20 cash were gone. I went back to the staff room and checked all my pockets going back and forth about three times before I said "alright, has anyone seen anything because my bus ticket and £20 are gone". One of the guys thee then said that someone had been up in the staff area earlier who shouldn't have been there and he'd asked the man what he was doing there as it was private and for staff only. The man had claimed he didn't realize this, and was looking for a suite. The staff member promptly told him to leave, but hadn't thought to report it. So several of us went to speak to the supervisor about it and the final decision on whether to call the police was handed to me. Which was when it really hit home that someone had gone through my stuff and robbed me. It felt a lot colder in there and even with my coat on, I couldn't stop shaking. The police were quick to arrive and questioned everyone involved about it, taking notes. They told me that from the description they'd been given, it sounded like a regular, so they should be able to find something on him. Security's going to be looked at in the store. I was treated to a hot chocolate at a cafe around the corner, Coffee Affair, by my placement provider, and it wasn't until shortly after that that the shaking stopped, though I felt sick for a while after that. Upon returning home, I found a plastic Morrison's bag tied to the door handle of my front door containing oranges, a margarine tub of biscuits, a bottle of chocolate crusha, and a packet of cottage pie mix with no note saying who it was from or who it was to. So I don't know what to do with it. I mean, I live alone yeah, but what if whoever left it had gotten the wrong house? I don't know because there was no letter or note. Very peculiar. I've sent texts to some people I know to see if they know anything about it. But I haven't heard anything yet. |
